Online training tool for educational professionals expands to Germany

Major Alliance is excited to announce the new partnership between Augeo Foundation, BumF (Bundesfachverband unbegleitete minderjährige Flüchtlinge), and BAfF (Bundesweite Arbeitsgemeinschaft Psychosozialer Zentren für Flüchtlinge und Folteropfer) through which the online training tool that learn professionals how to support refugee children with chronic stress will expand towards Germany. Major Alliance was very pleased to introduce Augeo Foundation to likeminded German Foundations, that set into motion this whole process with BumF and BafF.

As nonprofit organizations Augeo Foundation, BumF and BAfF share the common goal to contribute to a better support for refugee children so they can grow up healthy and safe, and without fear. Each organization works in its own way to contribute to this goal.

Augeo provides online training for educational professionals on ‘Trauma sensitive teaching’, that teaches professionals how to support children with chronic stress. In cooperation with refugee children, their parents and Dutch experts in the field, Augeo developed, at their own expenses, 2 online courses for teachers ‘Providing support to refugee children’, one variant for Primary Education and one variant for Secondary Education. Augeo would like to enable other countries in Europe to benefit from these two courses for educational professionals in order to support refugee children and therefore will start a cooperation project with BumF and BAfF in Germany.

The BumF is the principal network for many actors in Germany who support unaccompanied refugee minors. The BAfF is the umbrella organization for the currently 37 psychosocial centres for refugees and survivors of torture and a non-profit and non-governmental association with a strong emphasis on regional and nationwide networking with health care professionals as well as social and political structures.

In this cooperation project BumF and BAfF will review the courses of Augeo and make a list of necessary and desired changes to adapt the courses to the German context and will promote the use of the courses in Germany. With their own means (Website, Newsletter, Social Media, Mailing list of the "BAfF Academy") and the deployment of their network (Partner organizations, Children and Refugee-Organizations) a potential of at least 80.000 professionals (70.000 teachers) could be reached. Augeo will invest in the actual adaptation of the courses, and in the online publication and distribution of the courses through its online learning platform ‘Augeo academy’.
